This time Amazon Jeff Bezos, neither Googles nor Starbucks, whose CEOS were chosen in the past made it to the top

Best leader?

This year HBR decided to include a ESG KPI measuring the company’s environmental, social and governance performance that accounted for 20% of the result. That made the difference! According to Sustainalytics and HBR, «the company benefits from, among other things, its decision to offer insulin at a steep discount to consumers in developing countries; its transparent and limited political lobbying practices; and its responsible policy on animal testing.»

My reflection is that for the first time, this planet, the developed societies are understanding that a business is not just about making money, that good persons thinking about improving other peoples lifes can be also the best leaders!. Of course you have to be profitable and deliver what you were hired for but you also have to be responsible for how your business affect people and environment. You dont have to be a bad person to give results. It is the opposite: be a good person, think about improving others and be a great leader

To me this is a clue that, the society and the corporate world might be awakening to a new form of doing business, a responsible way when not only your financial results matter, people, the earth, the way you achieve results also matter. New leaders that do care for others. These new leaders have the challenge to bring results for their shareholders, create value for others, develop societies, contribute to the environment, work for higher purposes and be examples for other people as good persons and good leaders
